If Twitter were a country it would be the 12th largest in the world. With more than 250 million monthly active users, Twitter is certainly the most popular social media. Yet, there are countless small businesses that would rather remain out of the Twittersphere. There’s plenty of SEO analysis on how to effectively engage customers, but not much information on how to leverage Twitter for business.

“How will Twitter help me to get more customers?” If you are a small business owner and find yourself asking this, here’s how Twitter could help you:

  • Find CustomersYes, that’s true. Many small businesses use the Twitter search function to look for potential clients. To the uninitiated, the Twitter Search function allows users access to the billions of tweets sent every week. To look for tweets related to your business, use advanced search with keywords and terms related to your business. Look for tweets where users are discussing something related to your business, or enquiries where you can help. Respond to them politely to let them know you can help! Takes time I know, but this is much better than shooting scheduled tweets about your business.
  • Connect With Influencers:Remember the tweet about a granddaughter who posted a photo of her sad Papaw who had made burgers for his grandkids, but only one showed up? Before the post, nobody ever knew Kelsey Harmon. ut the single tweet earned her close to fifty thousand followers on Twitter! Her tweet was RT’d more than a million times.   • Listen To Customers:You can use Twitter to announce deals and discounts. But you can also use the platform to listen to your customers. When someone complains, make sure you respond appropriately. A customer who is heard is a happy customer. And a customer for life!
